The event was attended by top executives of MICE & Business Tourism as well as the former Commissioner, Minister and current Member of the Parliament, Mr. Dimitris Avramopoulos, the President of HAPCO & DES and CEO of AFEA Travel Mrs. Sissy Lygnou and the CEO of Aldemar Resorts Group Mr. Alexandros Angelopoulos.
Mr. Avramopoulos emphasized the potential of Ilia and encouraging the private sector to promote development programs and the public sector to provide incentives to make the area an investment destination, he said: "The Aldemar Group, with this significant project, continues its contribution to highlighting Ilia as a high-quality tourist destination and is part of an overall effort to promote it".
Pointing out the contribution of MICE industry to the reduction of seasonality, the attraction of high-income visitors and the development of Greece, Mrs. Lygnou noted: "Any project that aims to highlight the value and promote MICE, but also the face of "extroversion" and strengthening dynamics, such as the creation of the Illis Congress Center, which completes one of the largest investments in the country and upgrades the hospitality product of the Region of Western Greece, cannot but make us happy and find us allies".
During the presentation, the invited guests were guided around all the premises and got to know the exhibition and conference possibilities of one of the largest and most modern conference centers in Greece. The event ended at the Olympia restaurant where guests enjoy a menu, specially prepared by the hotel's Executive Chef, Manolis Roubakis.
At the end of the event, Mr. Alexandros Angelopoulos said: "Today we had the pleasure of putting into operation and presenting our new state-of-the-art conference and exhibition space, in Skafidia, to professionals in the MICE industry. The Ilis Congress Center, one of the largest centers in the country, is here to become a point of reference not only for Ilia but also for the Region of Western Greece. With unlimited possibilities and international specifications, it can host any kind of conference, exhibition and event. From the enthusiastic reception it received from industry professionals, we are sure it will change the map of hospitality in the region".
The Ilis Congress Center has a total area of 9,000 m2 and a total capacity of up to 3,000 people. The impressive main hall, 'Zeus', has a maximum capacity of 1,200 people, while the facilities include accompanying banqueting and dining areas and other rooms. The Ilis Congress Center was built according to international standards and specifications and thanks to its flexibility of layout it adapts to the needs of any type of conference, exhibition and event.
